Phone Holders for Your Car

Date Posted:12 August 2019

A car phone holding solution is essential for any driver these days. The tough new laws making it illegal to use your phone while driving, unless you have a voice activated system in your car or a compliant phone holder. A good phone holder allows you to see your phone easily by mounting it to the dashboard or windscreen. It means you can check your GPS and answer and make calls easily and safely.

But buying a phone holder can be confusing. There is plenty of choice out there but picking the right one for you could depend on a few things.

Things to consider:

  • Do you need to be able to move your phone frequently between cars? For example, if you often use hire cars.
  • Does someone else need to share your car. If you and your partner share a car, and you have different phones, what’s the solution
  • You often switch phones – you have one for work and another for personal use, or because you upgrade frequently. If that’s the case, are there phone holders that can adapt to different models or give you multiple mounting options?
  • Whether you’re likely to keep your current car for the foreseeable future, if you’re thinking of changing car soon, you want a phone holder solution that can be inter-changeable.
  • Do you like to listen to your large library of music when in your car?

Car specific v universal phone holders

For most people, a car-specific phone holder is the best option. While there are some great, adaptable universal holders on the market, a car-specific holder will usually perform better. They tend to be longer-lasting, easier to use and, of course, they fit your car perfectly.

This range of car-specific phone holders/mounts is a great example of how you can choose your phone holder to fit your car. Being a two-part system, the mounting solution is designed to fit over 50 different makes of car, with several options available for each make of car. Then you have a large range of holders depending on your phone and phone case if you have a case

Here’s how they work:

  • The two-part system is a modular solution where you buy a holder and a mount. The mount attaches to your dashboard and is car-specific, the holder attaches to the mount, and is either phone-specific or adjustable if you have shin or rugged phone case. The holders are available with charge & sync or non-charge and also available is a range to fit other devices, including tablets, GPS and hand-held work devices.
  • The mounts are designed to click easily into your dashboard. Depending on your make and model, they might fit to either side of the steering wheel, or next to the center console or on the right-side attached to door frame.
  • They can be fitted without any drilling or special tools. The exact fitting varies depending on the mount and where it’s going, with the easy to understand installation guide you don’t need to have any particular skill or equipment to do it.
  • You then choose a holder and attach it to the mount. There are holders for all major smartphones, with 16 different brands available. There are also adjustable holders, if you need to switch between phones. All the holders have a tilt-swivel to adjust you viewing angle allowing to see the screen clearly and can flip from landscape to portrait orientation.
  • With the charge holders, these also allow for sync and connection to your audio system (if supported by your vehicle) enabling you to listen to all your favorite songs and artists.
